Confidence isn’t something that magically appears, and one powerful, often overlooked tool to help boost your confidence is music.

Here are three simple music-based techniques you can try today to feel more confident, grounded, and energized.

1. Hum Loud and Proud

Take a deep breath and hum as loud as you can. Notice the vibrations in your chest, the sound filling the space, and the sense of control over your voice. This simple act can ground you in the present moment and remind you of your own power.

When we hum, we activate our vagus nerve, which plays a key role in calming the nervous system. Bonus: it also warms up your voice and helps you feel more connected to your body.

Try it: Choose a favorite tune and hum the chorus confidently. Let yourself feel the music.

2. Shout Out a Power Lyric

Words matter, especially when they come from a song that speaks to your strength. Pick a lyric from a song that makes you feel empowered, and say (or sing) it out loud with intention.

Example:

“I put my armor on, show you how strong I am”

Unstoppable by Sia

3. Get Your Body in the Beat

Sometimes, confidence comes from getting out of your head and into your body. Choose a song with a strong, steady beat, like Queen’s “We Will Rock You," and clap, stomp, or tap along.

Rhythmic movement helps to release nervous energy, improve your posture, and increase your sense of presence. It's like a mini music-fueled power pose!

Try it: Play a song with a driving beat, and let yourself move.

Final Note:

Confidence is a practice and music is a powerful partner in that journey. These simple tools can help you connect with your voice, body, and inner strength anytime you need a boost.
