A recent major review in eClinicalMedicine confirms that music therapy can notably ease anxiety!

After carefully reviewing 51 studies and combining results from 93 different outcomes, researchers found that music therapy had a medium effect on reducing anxiety symptoms. The review found that a mix of receptive and active therapy methods was most effective.

The Take Homes for YOu:

  1. Music helps! Studies show it really can ease anxiety—but especially when you listen AND play.

  2. Personalized makes a difference. Tailored music is more effective than just general playlists.

  3. It works across many contexts. From cancer treatment rooms to mental health care, music therapy could be a big, accessible tool.
